SEO or search engine optimisation requires a quality strategy that takes many elements into consideration. Your on page SEO strategy is vital. Why? The right strategy will help search engines effectively read the pages on your website.
If your webpage layouts are clear and the search engines read your website, they will understand what you do. By understanding what you do, they can send the right traffic your way.
Do you have an on page SEO strategy? A strategy is necessary. Plan each and every page on your website so that search engines instantly see who you are, what you do, and that strategy could result in an excellent outcome for your business that means more traffic from your target audience.
In order to succeed online, particularly if you are in a competitive market, you need both “on page” SEO and off page SEO strategies that work.
On Page SEO Tips
On page SEO is subjective but here are 6 on page strategy tips that could work for you:
- Use a keyword rich permalink structure (my preferred structure is /%postname%/). Consider using titles rather than numbers for page names and URL’s. If you write search engine optimised titles for each page and use part, or all of that title within the URL, you are, in effect, telling the search engines what the page is about.
- Add images to each page. Not only should you add images for the purposes of the webpage viewers to each page but as part of your on page SEO strategy. You should label them with relevant keyword phrases.
- Link internally. By linking to another location on your website you achieve two goals. First, you give search engines an increased impression of relevance to your topic and second, you give people on the page another page to click to. This could improve your conversion rate because with each click deeper into your site you increase the likelihood of someone buying something from you. Be sure to link using appropriate anchor text.
- Carefully layout each page with relevant keywords. Have keywords in your title, the first paragraph of your content, in subheadings, and in links. Make sure the keywords fit naturally so that the content has quality.
- Carefully craft your meta data (particularly the title tag and meta description). The meta data is read by search engines and the info you put into these fields could impact how search engines rank your website. Those rankings can directly impact how much traffic you receive and what sort of traffic arrives.
- Carefully assess your website statistics (using a quality service like Google Analytics). The info will help you determine whether or not you’re getting traffic, how people are arriving, and what they do once they reach your web pages.
